Gifts for art lovers.
The Met and heritage chocolatier Louis Sherry are delighted to introduce finely crafted treats made with ethically sourced ingredients from around the world. Since 1881, Louis Sherry has shared the French chocolate-making tradition with New Yorkers, and over 100 years later, their chocolates are presented in a traditional tin recast from the original 19th-century box.
This 12-piece tin made exclusively for The Met showcases a detail from Vincent van Gogh’s (Dutch, 1853–1890) Wheat Field with Cypresses (1889). The artist created this painting during his voluntary stay at the asylum in Saint-Rémy, and considered it to be one of his “best” summer landscapes.
